PTA Letters

Welcome to the Good Shepherd Primary Catholic Academy Parent and Teacher Association (PTA) web page!

Did you know that as a parent, carer or teacher at the school you are automatically a member of our PTA?

Your help is always needed and valued; whether it is an idea, supporting to plan and run a fundraising event, rallying parents and carers to join in or providing feedback on any events that we run.

We also exist to provide closer links between home and school and it is a great way to bring parents, staff and friends together socially in support of our school, working towards a common goal.

Buying additional equipment or resources benefits the learning experience of our children and enhances the school’s facilities’.

We understand that with busy lives, not everyone can help in this way but there are many quick and easy ways you can still be an incredible help!  Just by signing up to some established fundraising channels, you are raising funds for our school without even leaving home!

easyfundraising

www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/goodshepherdarnold

easyfundraising turns your online shopping into donations for our school. How? Once you have logged onto our cause, you just visit your favourite retailers through the easyfundraising website and then shop as normal. When you have completed your purchases, the retailers make a small donation to our cause. Simple as that!

Retailers such as Amazon, John Lewis, M&S, Expedia, Trainline, Argos, Tu, or even when switching your energy supplier, can give a donation from 0.5% to 10%. It’s an easy way to raise funds for our school.

Uniform Labels

Stamptastic and My Name Tags offer high quality label solutions which is SO essential to prevent uniform getting lost.  By registering with them, he PTA receives a credit every time parents place an order using our unique codes.

www.stamptastic.co.uk Our code is NG5 4LT

www.mynametags.com Our code is 21375

Empties please

Empties please is our ink recycling program.  The company helps schools raise funds and to encourage the next generation to be greener!

It easy.  Just drop your used cartridges off in the Empties please bin, located in the school reception. These are then collected, recycled and in turn we receive funds. It’s a great way to do your bit for the environment and help raise money for the school!

Preloved uniform

PTA sells second hand school uniform.  The items are in good condition and at low prices.

Our aim is to:

  • help all families provide a school uniform for their children,
  • reduce waste and encourage parents to pass on items they no longer need,
  • raise money for our school.

You can help by donating your good quality used uniform to the PTA via the drop off box which is located right outside the school reception.

We cannot hold traditional sales right now but regularly post items for sale on our Facebook page and if you are looking for items then please reach out to us.

Our successes and what we do!

Over the years the PTA has achieved some huge goals.  These have included

  • a new stage for the school hall,
  • providing a greenhouse and setting up gardening facilities,
  • replanting around the school
  • purchasing new keyboards
  • and, our latest achievement was to successfully raise £16,000 to buy and install a new trim trail for Key Stage 2, which included a financial contribution from Nottinghamshire County Council

In addition we also endeavour to provide specific annual support, such as:-

  • a £250 Scholarship Fund to help support families that could otherwise not afford to take part on school / PTA events,
  • Help to fund Year 6 Year Books providing a lasting memory of their time at the Good Shepherd,
  • Providing £100 to each year group to their activity fund, to help towards the cost an activity during the year,
  • Supplying our Early Years Foundation children with fluorescent arm bands to ensure they can be seen during the winter months on their way to and from school, as part of Safety Week,
  • A donation of £500 each year to support our school library.

Activities and events

Due to the current circumstances, we are looking for new and innovative ways to both connect with our community and fundraise so keep your eyes out for communications regarding some new ideas and events.

Some of our traditional events include….

  • Pop up shops – held during holidays such as Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s day etc, these events allow the children to shop from a selection of items and take home a wrapped gift for their loved ones
  • Cake sales
  • Movie nights
  • Christmas discos
  • Christmas card project
  • Family music nights
  • Coffee mornings / afternoons
  • Summer Fayre
