Monday 2nd December - Mass to celebrate the beginning of Advent.

Remember to keep up-to-date with our Word of the Week videos on Twitter and YouTube.

Monday 6th January - Mass to celebrate Epiphany at 9.15am.

Tuesday 11th February - Mass to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes at 10.00 am in Church.

'My Soul Glorifies the Lord, My Spirit Rejoices'

We linked the scripture and the Magnificat to Pope Francis' five fingered hand prayer as we reflected on the example of Mary and prayed for those who are close to us, those who lead us, those who direct us, those in need and finally, for ourselves.

The Feast Day of Our Lady of Lourdes

We celebrated Mass in school, with children and parents, on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. It was a beautiful Mass with the choir and musicians leading us in hymns dedicated to Mary. The prayers and litanies helped us to focus on Mary as the mother of Jesus. Thank you and well done everyone.

Year 6 Leading the Parish in the Liturgy of the Word

'Share your bread with the hungry and shelter the homeless' was the message from Isaiah during today's reading.

Well done to our Year 6 children who led the parish in the Liturgy of the Word today and who also read their own bidding prayers. We prayed that with God's help, we will understand more clearly, that He is the light of the world. Well done children, your read so clearly and confidently too

Mental Health Week

During our assembly, we prayed for all those people who struggle with mental health, who are lonely and anxious and we asked God to help us to 'Find Our Brave'. We remembered that we are not alone and that God is beside us every day.

Year 5 Adoration

Year 5, led by Joe,  shared in a reflective period of Adoration.  They prayed together and shared in the Word of God.

Saint Barnabas' Cathedral and the Mary Potter Centre

Year 5 had a brilliant day at this beautiful cathedral where they participated in Holy Mass. They also visited the Little Company of Mary Heritage Centre. They all learnt such a lot about the mission of the diocese and that of Mary Potter. They arrived back in school with lots to reflect on.

Father Philipp's visit to Foundation

Father Philipp came into school to talk to Foundation about celebrations in Church.  He spoke to the children about Baptism, First Holy Communion, anointing of the sick, weddings and the holy Mass.  He brought holy water, chrism and the current wedding and baptism registers. Father Philipp did a fantastic job of helping the children to learn about celebrations, linked to their current Come and See topic.  The children had a great time.

Mass to Celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany

Such a wonderful start to our Lent term with a Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany.  The children sang beautifully and read with confidence as we reflected on the faith and dedication of the Wise Men as they travelled to see the Son of God.

Advent - Emmanuel House Food Collection

Thank you for your kindness and generosity in your giving for our Emmanuel House food collection. At this time of year we think of those less fortunate than ourselves and without your support we would not be able to help others as we do.

 Advent - Jesse Tree

As we come to the end of the Advent term we have been reflecting on the stories of the Jesse Tree.  We have shared some lovely Advent reflections and have all enjoyed listening to the stories from the Bible leading up to the birth of Jesus.  We listened and discussed the stories as we continue through the Year of the Word.

 Year 6 Adoration

Such a lovely afternoon sharing in Adoration with Year 6.  You approached your time with Christ in a mature and calm way.  A quite, reflective atmosphere that was a privilege to be part of. Thank you to Joe for leading us.

 Valley Court

Matthew 7:12 "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them."

An afternoon of bringing joy to others, as a large group of the choir walked to Valley Court to sing to the elderly.  Such a wonderful Christmas atmosphere.  Well done children.

Nottinghamshire Hospice

Thank you to Nottinghamshire Hospice for inviting us to sing.  It is always such a privilege to be able to do a little something for others and put a smile on someone's face.  Well done children, you were a credit to us all.

Singing at Valley Court and the Hospice

A dedicated group of children from our school choir, along with Mrs Newham and members of our school staff, have been out to sing in the local community.

Advent - Week 3

What a busy week we have had during this third week of Advent.  The children have finished their wonderful Nativity performances and the school is full of excitement.

Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception

Well done to Year 5 for planning their Class Mass to celebrate the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.  Father Philipp joined Year 5 as they shared in their Mass together, listening to scripture from the Holy Bible, singing hymns which they had chosen and praying the prayers that they had written.

Year 6 readers

Well done to our Year 6 children who read in Mass on Sunday.  They then proudly showed off our school entry into the 'Christmas Tree Festival'.

Staff Liturgy

We gathered as a staff to reflect on our whole school word of the week - HOPE.  We listened to the Nativity story and thought about how important hope really is in our everyday lives.

 Advent Reflections

A wonderful start to Advent with our children leading our daily Advent Reflections, based on the stories of the Jesse Tree.  We wait for the coming of Jesus through sharing stories from the Bible during the Year of the Word. We have shared singing, reflection and discussion.

Advent Mass

To start Advent we gathered together to celebrate Mass and bless our Advent wreaths.  We are so lucky in our school to have so many talented people.  Thank you to Miss Dawes, Mrs Brown, Mrs Bottoms and Mrs Tyler for making our wreaths so that we can use them in our classrooms to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas during this Advent time.

Year of the Word - Foundation receive their new Bibles

Foundation proudly welcomed Tom and Kieran from the Briars Team They sang them one of the songs that they have been learning in class, as they gather together in prayer, with great confidence.  They were so excited about receiving their new Bibles and couldn't wait to take them home to show their parents.

Remembrance Liturgy

Thank you to the children in Year 6 for leading such a reflective and thought provoking Remembrance Liturgy.  We reflected on the people who had died and remembered the sacrifice that they made.

Staff Liturgy

Our first staff Spiritual Well-being Liturgy took place this week.  One of our Chaplains Issie led us in Lectio Divina, as we listened to scripture and prayed together.

Chaplaincy Team

Congratulations to our new Chaplaincy Team, who were commissioned at our All Saints Mass.  They have embraced their new role, working hard helping in Mass and Prayer groups.  We are extremely proud of the brilliant example they have been setting around school.
